Javier Cacho is a Spanish writer, scientist, physicist, populariser and explorer who, in 1986, was part of the First Spanish Scientific Expedition to Antarctica. There, he has carried out extensive research into the destruction of ozone in those latitudes and has been head of the Juan Carlos I Antarctic Base.

During the talk, he will provide a privileged insight into the importance of this continent for global climate regulation, its biodiversity, the scientific work carried out there and the model of international cooperation that makes Antarctica a symbol of science and peace.
